STUTTER ISLAND - READ ME FIRST

Thank you for choosing Stutter Island by Stigma Audio.

Your order contains:
  - StutterIsland-<version>.pkg                macOS installer (VST3 + AU + standalone)
  - StutterIsland-<version>-Windows-Setup.exe  Windows installer (VST3 + standalone)
  - your license key (shown on the order page and in the order email)


macOS (11 or later, Intel and Apple Silicon)
--------------------------------------------
1. Double-click the .pkg and follow the steps. The installer is signed and
   notarized by Apple: no warning should appear.
2. It installs:
     /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/Stutter Island.vst3
     /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/Stutter Island.component  (AU)
     /Applications/Stutter Island.app                             (standalone)
3. Restart your DAW so it rescans plug-ins.
   Logic / GarageBand use the AU. Ableton Live, Bitwig, Reaper, Cubase,
   Studio One, FL Studio use the VST3 (Live can use either).


Windows (10 / 11, 64-bit)
-------------------------
1. Run StutterIsland-<version>-Windows-Setup.exe.
2. Windows may show "Windows protected your PC" because the installer is not
   code-signed yet. Click "More info", then "Run anyway". This is expected.
3. It installs:
     C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\Stutter Island.vst3
     C:\Program Files\Stigma Audio\Stutter Island\Stutter Island.exe  (standalone)
4. Restart your DAW so it rescans plug-ins.


Activate your license (both platforms)
--------------------------------------
1. Open Stutter Island in your DAW (or the standalone app).
2. Click "DEMO" in the top-right corner of the header.
3. Fill in the two fields: the email address you bought with, and your
   license key. Then press "Activate". A key alone is not enough -- the
   email is checked too. An internet connection is needed for this step only.
4. The header now reads "By Stigma": the plug-in is fully unlocked.

Your key works on up to 3 computers. To move it to another machine, open the
same window and press "Deactivate" first.

Until a key is activated, the plug-in runs in demo mode: full sound for a
limited time (10 minutes on first use, then 50 seconds per instance), then
the audio mutes and a "Demo time is up" screen appears. Reloading the
plug-in gives another 50 seconds. Offline renders are dry in demo mode.


Tempo without a DAW (standalone, DJ software)
---------------------------------------------
When no host provides a tempo, the tempo screen at the top right reads
"TAP": click it in rhythm to tap the tempo, or drag it up/down to fine-tune
(hold Shift for finer steps). If a MIDI clock reaches the MIDI input, the
plug-in follows it automatically and the screen reads "SYN". Under a DAW
the screen reads "BPM" and follows the host.

On macOS, the standalone asks for microphone access when you pick an audio
input -- that is how macOS handles any audio interface. Accept it.
