Six tracks,
27 machines.

MMSYN is a six-track synthesizer with a sequencer that remembers every knob, three LFOs on every track, an arpeggiator that follows the grid, and an effects family that lets one track process another.

Inspired, not emulated

In the spirit of a six-track legend

Some synths were never about one sound: they were about six voices, each a different machine, all locked to one sequencer. MMSYN takes that spirit and builds everything from scratch — our engines, our machine names, our page layouts. No firmware, no one else's samples, no emulation. The machines are synthesized here — and the drum machine plays your own WAV files.

The machines

27 machines, 8 families

Each track runs one machine, eight knobs on its SYNTH page, and the same chain after it: EQ, resonant filter, drive, envelope, sample-rate reducer, delay. Swap the machine, keep the rest.

Waves & tables · 7

Ramp, pulse-width and choir machines with unison and subs; wavetable, morph and choir machines on 32 tables; and a drum machine that plays a built-in kit or your own folders of WAV files as banks.

FM · 3

Three FM machines — two, three or swept operators — oversampled ×4, with a TONE control that goes from clean to savage.

Chip & voice · 6

Two chip-style machines, one clean and one worn. Four voices: a formant voice with twenty consonants, a digital voice in six modes (table, choir, robot, formant, wave sequence, vocoder), a robot voice, and a chord voice.

Drums, effects & sources · 11

A metallic percussion synth in four structures; seven effect machines — pass-through, reverb, doubler, compressor, ring mod, phaser, flanger — that process the previous track, or any track you point them at; and three plain sources: silence, sine, noise.

Your samples

Bring your own drums

The drum machine plays a built-in kit of 24 sounds — and any folder of WAV or AIFF files you put in your Music folder. MMSYN ships with no one else's samples; what you load is yours.

Folders become banks

Every sub-folder of the Samples folder is a bank. Files are sorted by name and folded to mono; the common prefix of the names is trimmed so the small screen stays readable.

24 sounds, two octaves

A bank holds up to 24 sounds, laid out over two octaves of the keyboard and repeated above and below. Bigger folders are cut into banks of 24. The layout never changes, so a pattern survives a change of kit.

A kit before you load anything

The first bank is a built-in set of 24 drum sounds, so the machine speaks the moment you add it to a track.

See what you play

A SAMPLE window draws the waveform of the selected sound while it plays. Swap a bank, and the track keeps its place in the pattern.

The sequencer

128 patterns, and every knob remembers

PARAMETER LOCKS

Hold a step, turn a knob. Up to 32 locks per step across all seven pages, sliding between locked values if you ask. Locks follow the knob: automate the filter, the locked steps move with it.

PATTERN LOCKS

One sound per project; any control can be overridden on one pattern. Randomize a pattern without touching the others.

CONDITIONS & MORE

Every n:m, FILL, PRE conditions; probability; ratchets; micro-timing; swing track; per-track length, speed from 1/8× to 2×, direction, euclidean rhythms.

THREE LFOs PER TRACK

Eleven shapes, five trigger modes, any target on any page — including pitch, and the other LFOs. Separate trig tracks for amp, filter and LFO.

ARPEGGIATOR

Fed by the steps or by your hands, locked to the transport and the track's grid, with its own 16-step rhythm and offset track. Transpose per pattern, per track, per step, or from the keyboard.

SONG MODE

Up to 200 rows: loops, jumps, halts, start offset and length per row, tempo and mutes per row. Pattern chains for the quick version.

Around the machines

Made to be played

  • Every control learns: MIDI learn and computer-key learn on all 60-odd buttons, knobs and faders. Pads on a controller hold a step like a finger. Learned links belong to the machine, not the preset: learn once, keep it through every preset change.
  • Controller profiles and pickup: load a profile for your controller or save your own, and a learned knob waits until it reaches the current value before it acts, so nothing jumps.
  • Played and recorded live: a track key plays its track, REC writes what you play — arpeggio included — and REC + Shift + arrow transposes a track's notes by a semitone. Copy a pattern, paste it on another, and the sound follows.
  • Velocity and key tracking assignable to any two parameters per track, filter tracking included.
  • Sounds, presets, banks: save a track's sound and load it anywhere; presets with favorites and automatic versions; your own sample folders as drum banks.
  • Content: 77 factory projects with eight patterns and a song each — from synthwave to hardcore.
  • Link with MDSYN: the two instruments follow each other's patterns, transport and tempo over the network.

Separate outputs

Every track on its own channel

Mix in your DAW, not in the plugin. MMSYN has a stereo main output and six more stereo outputs — one per track — so each voice can go to its own channel strip, with its own effects and levels.

Main or its own output

Each track is set to MAIN or to its own output. Right-click a track key, or open the OUTPUT page: knobs A to F are tracks 1 to 6. One gesture sends all six tracks apart, or brings them all back.

Nothing is doubled

A track sent to its own output leaves the main mix. The main mix plus the separate outputs add up to exactly the sound you had before.

Never a lost track

If your DAW has not connected an output, that track stays in the main mix, and the screen says so. Nothing disappears without a reason.

Off until you ask

The extra outputs are off by default, so a host that does not request them hears no change. In Ableton Live, choose MMSYN, then Track n, in an audio track's Audio From.
